About The Position

As part of the SpaceX Environmental Health & Safety team, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical EHS support to a wide array of launch vehicle manufacturing teams. As a tactical extension of the EHS engineering team, you will serve to reinforce safe work and work conditions for our most valuable assets, our employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR High school diploma, or equivalency certificate, with 4+ years of experience implementing and overseeing environmental, health and safety programs
  • Ability lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted
  • Willingness to work extended hours when needed to meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to pass relevant USCG examinations, federal facility background checks, re-certifications, and chemical testing
  • Position is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive reviews of manufacturing and test procedures and draft job hazard assessments (JHAs) to define hazard controls prior to work execution
  • Establish preventative maintenance procedures for safety-critical equipment including air monitoring devices, fall protection, respirators and more
  • Calibrate and service a wide array of EHS instrumentation
  • Maintain records for industrial hygiene studies/remediation sampling, employee training, and work permits
  • Qualify PPE requirements through in-depth hazard analysis and review of consensus agency standards (NIOSH/ANSI etc.)
  • Functional testing of active and passive machine guarding devices in a wide array of applications
  • Perform safety inspections and address deficiencies to mitigate risk
  • Conduct incident investigations and provide recommendation for corrective action
  • Play an active role in emergency response planning
  • Facilitate employee classroom safety trainings and curate relevant course content catered the teams you are supporting
  • Review lockout/tagout procedures for complex work cells and industrial machinery
  • Monitor safety equipment inventories to ensure supplies such as PPE are readily available for employees
  • Provide supplemental environmental compliance support as required by Environmental Engineering
