About The Position

This entry-level role supports the organization’s safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance programs. The EHS Specialist assists with the implementation of EHS policies, employee training, inspections, incident investigations, and compliance activities to help maintain a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. The EHS Specialist works closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable VOSHA, EPA, and company requirements.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations with regards to OSHA and EPA.
  • Familiarity with the Vermont State Government’s interaction with Federal regulators.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a closely related field.
  • ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300 certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in addition to Mack Molding EHS policies and procedures.
  • Lead training and company adherence to safety investigation protocols in accordance with Mack Safety Programs.
  • Utilize computer-based tools to identify site trends and preventative measures to implement and maintain collaboration with employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Lead safety investigations, analyze trends, and collaborate with leadership on prevention measures.
  • Ensure Contractor safety compliance.
  • Function as an integrated member of the Mack-North Incident Command System.
  • Work with program managers to maintain, implement and enforce site safety programs, procedures, and regulatory training, addressing at-risk areas and conducting safety audits/inspections.
  • Oversee hazardous waste operations and programs for all Mack North sites.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and direct assistance to ensure site compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, guidelines, and permit requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA safety legislation, ISO14001 ISO 45001 standards, and EPA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and regulatory permits.
  • Work with Company Nurse and HR Director to identify site safety metrics, accident trends, and ensure timely reporting of Vermont Worker's Compensation claims.
  • Provide Mack-North level oversite of the SDS program.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the VT Local Emergency Preparedness Council, respective Fire Districts and respective medical facilities.
  • Track and audit plant emergency preparedness with regards to First Responders and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Drive continuous improvement for a safe work environment, engaging employees through safety committees and comprehensive orientation.
