About The Position

The EHS Specialist II supports the development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs across AAON’s operations. This mid-level role involves conducting audits, delivering training, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The specialist works independently on routine EHS matters and collaborates with cross-functional teams to promote a proactive safety culture. The EHS Specialist II plays a key role in maintaining compliance and improving workplace safety. This position requires a solid understanding of EHS regulations and the ability to apply them in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety compliance, auditing, or program administration, or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and occupational safety standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and reference federal regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity software.
  • Ability to develop clear policies, reports, and training materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to diplomatically communicate constructive feedback.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to time‑sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to present information to small‑ to medium‑sized groups.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative tasks.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop during inspections and audits.
  • Ability to walk up to three miles throughout manufacturing and warehouse facilities.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs as required.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail in active industrial environments.
  • Compliance with all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety and environmental audits to identify risks and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and supervisors.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update EHS documentation, including permits, reports, and training records.
  • Monitor hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal in accordance with regulations.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and environmental reporting.
  • Assist in the development of emergency response plans and lead drills.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to integrate safety into daily processes.
