About The Position

The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (TLI) is Los Angeles County's preeminent independent, not-for-profit biomedical research hub, excelling in transforming scientific breakthroughs into practical therapies. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, occupational safety and health or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental safety regulations and policies and Cal OSHA laws and regulations.
• Seven to 10 years of related experience
• Application must be complete and signed; incomplete submissions will not be considered.
• Position requires a background check and health clearance

Responsibilities

• Evaluation chemical and physical hazards within the organization to ensure compliance with Cal-OSHA Laboratory Standard
• Review and update policies, procedures and manuals
• Conduct physical inspections of laboratories, fume hoods, gas cylinders, chemicals, PPE practices, etc.
• Review chemical inventories, laboratory SOPs, training documentation, safety data sheets, inspection/audit findings
• Review IIP, EAP, chemical hygiene plan, job safety analysis, spill logs
• Review vendor contracts and waste manifests and chemical purchasing
• Research and recommend practical solutions for improvement of the program
