About The Position

The EH&S Manager will “own” the EHS function at this facility and be responsible for ensuring that the site meets or exceeds OSHA and EPA regulations along with PCC specific EH&S requirements. This role will be responsible for providing a safe working environment for our employees by working with the other site functions to proactively reduce workplace hazards and risk through policy management, training, inspections/audits, and worker’s compensation management. The role requires corresponding with local authorities as necessary to ensure regulatory compliance (wastewater discharge, air emissions, hazardous waste, etc.), and with customers to align with their EHS requirements.

Requirements

  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA and other applicable industry environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate performance metrics and outcomes.
  • Superior communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to develop multiple solutions to an issue and make valid recommendations for resolution.
  • Ability to work calmly in a high stress and high-pressure situation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization from corporate, regional and plant management to supervisors and hourly employees in the production areas.
  • Able to work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills working with all levels of management.
  • Proven ability to work hands-on with the team to achieve objectives.
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, Safety, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in Safety/EH&S in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, etc).
  • Strong communicator with a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and dynamic situations in a complex work environment.
  • Ability to document, plan, measure, and execute EH&S compliance programs.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Project management skills include capital management, equipment upgrades, and strategic planning.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management team with critical safety and health opportunities.
  • Work with Facilities Manager and maintenance team to coordinate installation and upgrade projects relating to EH&S.
  • Manage the site’s EH&S programs, procedures, training, JHA’s, risk assessments, and incident investigations and track utilizing the site’s electronic management system.
  • Evaluate hazardous conditions and develop hazard control plans to eliminate and/or minimize the hazards.
  • Work with department managers/supervisors on safety and 6S change initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Lead and manage the plant EH&S initiatives driving sustainable cultural change with a long-term strategy.
  • Measure, track, and report the site’s accident statistics and make recommendations for problem areas.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports including Tier II, Form R, and other annual reports as needed.
  • Development and implementation of emergency response procedures and contingency plans for the site.
  • Coordinate and implement design changes in processes regarding wastewater, air quality, and noise to meet compliance requirements.
  • Establish area goals and long-term strategy for accident prevention and cost-control objectives.
  • Investigate and document all accidents/injuries and recommend immediate corrective actions.
  • Ensure the PCC EHS Rules are implemented, managed, and measured for all departments.
  • Work with production employees on EH&S changes for their department including ergonomics.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly EH&S reports for management operations reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.
