Requirements

  • BS or BA degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of EHS experience with leadership responsibilities within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and working knowledge of OSHA regulations as they apply to manufacturing and distribution.
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to consistently follow and apply company policy and procedure.
  • Ability to recognize noncompliance, identify discrepancies, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to apply appropriate corrective action.
  • Skill in interpersonal communication (oral and written) with the strength to influence company compliance and direct workflow for personnel inside and outside of the EHS department.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions - mathematical, chemical, or diagram form.
  • Proficient in using the Internet and Microsoft office programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Able to travel for work as needed.
  • Satisfactorily pass comprehensive background screening.
  • Satisfactorily pass drug screening (if applicable to position).

Nice To Haves

  • Professional EHS certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 encouraged.
  • Experience in radioactive environments or medical device manufacturing is highly encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an EHS program compliant in Federal OSHA, Washington Administrative Code (WAC), and WISHA standards for workplace safety.
  • Conduct thorough regulatory research to ensure all internal safety protocols comply with or exceed state and federal requirements.
  • Interface with auditors and government officials.
  • Provide comprehensive support during inspections to demonstrate unwavering compliance with regulations, standards, and internal processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to support radiation safety personnel with environmental testing, dose monitoring management, and contamination control in radioactive areas.
  • Serve as the official back-up to the Radiation Safety Officer, maintaining readiness to assume RSO duties, oversee radiation protection protocols, and handle regulatory interactions in the RSO's absence.
  • Lead on-site safety committee, facilitating regular meetings to discuss safety trends, reviewing incident data, and drive cross-departmental safety initiatives between management and technical staff.
  • Work in collaboration with operations and other departments to proactively seek continual improvement opportunities within the organization.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate trainings for these improvements.
  • Manages NC, CAPA, deviation, and incident reporting systems for safety violations or "near-misses".
  • Drives Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action development, implementation, and verification.
  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, behavior-based safety observations and job hazard analyses (JHA) to identify potential risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Manages risk assessments for all operations processes, driving initiatives to reduce risk on annually basis.
  • Provide insight into compliance and safety measures to new initiatives, processes, and programs.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs to enhance employee awareness and motivation regarding workplace safety and culture.
  • Oversees waste management, air emissions, water discharge and pollution prevention programs.
  • Develops emergency response plans, coordinates drills & exercises and serves as key contact during incidents and emergency situations.
  • Embodies the Company’s purpose and shared values, building a positive and productive team culture.
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Authorized to access employee and/or patient PHI and ePHI only as needed for job-related functions.
