About The Position

The Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. This role involves daily presence on the production floor, leading safety initiatives, managing incident investigations, developing and delivering training, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The coordinator will also track and report on EHS metrics and participate in reviews of new chemicals and capital projects impacting EHS compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Utah and South Salt Lake regulatory requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust with hourly operators and supervisors.
  • Action-oriented mindset focused on engagement and results—not bureaucracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Safety certification preferred: Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Safety & Health Manager (CSHM)
  • Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., Velocity, Enhesa Compliance) is a plus.
  • Spanish communication skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a daily presence on the production floor, building trust and visibility with operators.
  • Lead near-miss reporting, including investigation, follow-up, and closure of corrective actions.
  • Manage the “Be Aware, Take Care” program, promoting active employee participation, daily hazard reviews, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct safety observations and provide real-time coaching to reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Reinforce housekeeping standards and visual management practices across the site.
  • Support and lead risk assessments and hazard identification activities.
  • Develop, review, and execute accident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and safety alerts.
  • Implement site-specific safety programs, emergency response plans, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive HS training and onboarding for employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure training emphasizes regulatory requirements, safe work practices, and site-specific hazards.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, permit applications, and required documentation to maintain compliance with EPA / RCRA, DOT, and local and state agencies.
  • Participate in reviews and approvals of new chemicals introduced to the site and capital projects impacting HS or environmental compliance.
  • Track, analyze, and report HS metrics, including incident and injury rates, waste generation, compliance performance, and leading and lagging safety indicators.
