About The Position

As an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician, you'll play an important role in creating safe, healthy, and comfortable living and dining environments for thousands of Virginia Tech students. This is a hands-on position that offers a unique combination of environmental health, industrial hygiene, fire and life safety, pest management, and wildlife management responsibilities. The position involves problem-solving, independent work, learning new skills, and making a meaningful impact. Virginia Tech is looking for someone who is dependable, motivated, willing to learn, and committed to providing outstanding customer service. Comprehensive training, mentoring, and professional development will be provided. As an EHS Technician, you will support environmental health and safety programs across Virginia Tech residence halls and dining facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Driver's license.
  • Ability to successfully complete required training programs and obtain certifications.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and coworkers.
  • Ability to use computers and complete electronic documentation.
  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and around environmental hazards while using appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Criminal conviction check.
  • Driving check with a safe driving record.
