About The Position

Ingredion is hiring an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to operate in an advisory/liaison capacity on all matters related to the health and safety of our employee group and operations as a whole, serving as a liaison with the associate workforce. This position will also provide support to environmental initiatives to improve environmental compliance.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the value of personal safety and behaviors
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills to conduct meetings, and act as a liaison between employees, contractors, and management
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze processes and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
  • Demonstrate a strong integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues
  • A degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related technical field or equivalent in experience in occupational safety in an industrial setting is preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain OSHA 10-hour certification
  • Ability to effectively present safety-related materials for employee training and development.
  • Must be computer literate to effectively use current Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other software programs.
  • Assertive, creative, energetic, and positive thinking.
  • Demonstrate analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Developed multi-tasking and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting site management efforts to ensure compliance with the Corporate safety program expectations and applicable federal and state law
  • Representing the associate workforce to the EHS community and Ingredion leadership
  • Providing technical support and tactical execution of site safety programs, assisting safety management in administration, maintenance, and operation of safety programs
  • Delivering pertinent safety training (Permit training, STOP, LOTO, etc.), managing, planning, and executing monthly safety activities
  • Maintaining EHS Program documents and policies
  • Maintaining a field presence in all site areas and communicating with department personnel
  • Ensuring coordination of on-site Emergency Response Team training
  • Leading small improvement projects or initiatives to improve site EHS culture and promote safety excellence
  • Coordinating emergency drills and response plans
  • Conducting Job Safety Analyses
  • Supporting a specific production unit’s safety adherence
  • Supporting the Environmental Manager up to 20% of the time on initiatives that align with plant environmental goals
