About The Position

Eberhard Manufacturing, an Eastern Company subsidiary, seeks an experienced and dedicated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Senior Specialist. The Senior EHS Specialist will assist in developing, implementing, and continuously improving Eberhard's environmental, health, and safety programs. This role requires close collaboration with various departments to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations and to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all levels of the organization. This position will be hands-on, working with stakeholders from the shop floor to executive leadership. The Senior EHS Specialist will work closely with different departments and subsidiaries of the Eastern Company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in an EHS role
  • Strong understanding of EHS, regulations, frameworks, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, including experiences producing EHS reports, influence and create a compelling safety culture.
  • Analytical capabilities with the ability to assess data, identify trends and metrics to drive informed decision-making, and implement improvements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel to analyze and present EHS data effectively.
  • Experience with ISO 14001:2015.
  • Experience with ISO 9001.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an Industrial or Manufacturing environment.
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the EHS regulatory compliance and standards for Eberhard, including understanding regulatory requirements for the company, developing and implementing standards to ensure compliance, and interpreting changes to the law/keeping the organization ahead of any legal risk.
  • Stay current with (OSHA, EPA, and local, state, and federal) environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Serves as a technical expert in interpreting and applying EHS regulations and standards.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Enhance Eberhard's safety culture by leading a safety team, developing and delivering safety training, partnering with operations and other departments on safety initiatives, and assisting in creating safety solutions that benefit associates.
  • Continuously assess Eberhard for EHS risks, inspect facilities, develop policies and schedules, and assess work environments.
  • Support the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of EHS policies and programs.
  • Collaborate with the EHS team to drive improvements and achieve better outcomes.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Participate in drills and preparedness activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety incidents, inspections, and training records.
  • Build and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on EHS performance and trends for management review.
  • Analyze EHS data to identify trends, areas of improvement, and best practices.
  • Support and implement environmental programs to reduce the organization's environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement sustainable practices and improve resource efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with applicable ISO 14001 standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with leaders and associates to foster mutual respect and trust, resulting in a strong EHS culture.
  • Contribute to enhancing Eberhard's safety culture.
  • Assist in developing and delivering EHS training programs.
  • Support safety initiatives and campaigns in collaboration with various departments.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct drills and exercises to prepare associates for various emergencies.
  • Coordinate with local emergency services and agencies as needed.
  • Participate in industry associations and professional networks to stay informed about EHS developments.
