About The Position

This position exists to help create and maintain a safe work environment and promote a strong culture of safety in a manufacturing setting which includes fabrication and assembly of aluminum fishing boats. The EHS Coordinator is a hands-on, floor focused role that performs the day-to-day activities needed to support Environmental, Health and Safety programs required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and internal policies and procedures. This role is expected to be out in the plant, working directly with employees and supervisors to identify hazards, complete required inspections, deliver training, and follow through on corrective actions. This is a non-supervisory role; however, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong informal leadership through professionalism, good judgment, and role-modeling safe behaviors, and must be willing and confident in stopping unsafe acts.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience supporting EHS in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial operations
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and applicable EPA and state environmental regulations; ability to interpret and apply requirements in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience conducting floor-level safety observations, inspections, and job hazard analyze (JHAs/JTAs), and driving corrective actions to change.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • OSHA 30-hour (General Industry) certification or ability to quickly obtain
  • Experience administering or supporting programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Powered industrial Cranes/Hoist, confined space and respiratory protection
  • Experience with stormwater compliance (SWPPP), air permit recordkeeping, and hazardous waste generator requirements.
  • Training or certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED, or forklift/hoist trainer credentials

Responsibilities

  • Be a daily, hands-on safety presence on the manufacturing floor-observe work, coach safe practices, and stop unsafe acts.
  • Complete job-task and equipment risk assessments and help drive practical corrective actions
  • Support and help lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and verify corrective actions are complete
  • Create and deliver safety training (e.g., forklift, hoist/crane, lockout/tagout, tool safety) and maintain training records
  • Maintain required written safety and environmental programs and update documents as processes change.
  • Track safety KPI's, complete inspections, and follow up to closure on findings and action items
  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring/support (air quality, noise) and help implement controls.
  • Coordinate with Environmental Consultant to ensure all regulatory compliance reporting is complete in time.
  • Conduct Minnesota SWPPP inspections, documentation, and corrective action follow-up; support stormwater sampling as required
  • Support Minnesota air permit compliance activities for HAPs, VOCs and particulates (wood and aluminum dust) including inspections and recordkeeping
  • Perform hazardous waste inspections and support Minnesota for hazardous waste small generator compliance, reporting and audit readiness
