About The Position

AECOM has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Professional within our EHS division. In this role, you will work onsite at one of our key client’s locations in Sparks, NV delivering EHS compliance and conformance tasks while encouraging a proactive health and safety culture. This position is contingent on AECOM contract award. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in the environmental and/or health and safety sectors. This role necessitates exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, strong organizational and time management skills, adaptability to engage in multifaceted projects, a positive demeanor, and a commitment to continuous learning. The successful applicant will demonstrate the capacity to communicate effectively with members of cross-functional teams, client stakeholders, site personnel, and office management, and will be capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a project team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field.
  • 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in implementing health and safety programs and environmental compliance activities.
  • A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in or with data centers.
  • Familiar multi-media compliance, permitting and reporting in Nevada.
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Construction safety experience.
  • Professional certification - CPEA, PE, CSP, CIH, CHMM or other equivalent certification.
  • NFPA 70E Certification
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification
  • OSHA 30 Construction Safety Training
  • Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and hard working.
  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written (writing sample required).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for moderately complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety and health disciplines to achieve compliance with EHS standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate operational EHS risks.
  • Support client EHS team by performing onsite EHS assessments, inspections and reporting to support the client in maintaining EHS compliance.
  • Ability to understand the intent and application of a diverse set of state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, NDEP), and the ability to effectively educate our clients specific to their regulatory obligations and compliance.
  • Develop and execute EHS training needs based on identified operational risks and ensure that workforce training activities are provided to meet client’s business and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and advise on the client’s EHS requirements and applicable EHS references to ensure regulatory requirements are implemented and followed onsite.
  • Work with and advise contractors in identification and implementation of corrective actions for identified deficiencies or issues.
  • Attend and participate in essential meetings not limited to All Hands, Stand Downs, Orientations, Safety Committees, EHS Leads, Activity Briefings, Coordination Meeting, etc.
  • Conduct investigation and immediately report all safety incidents, near misses, and occupational illness, and create, validate and communicate lessons learned
  • Perform floor walks and observe work activities; document observations and provide coaching/feedback to personnel to ensure proper safe work behaviors and practices.
  • Perform environmental work such as but not limited to air permitting, chemical management and waste handling to meet environmental compliance, and EHS auditing.
  • Prepare permits, implement work plans, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation (text, tables, figures, and calculations).
  • Review permits and plans to facilitate compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Act as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.
  • Perform independent hands-on fieldwork, oversee construction contractors and other field personnel, and interact with various client stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies and add value to client service offerings.
