About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Geologist to support environmental investigation, remediation, and compliance projects throughout the Southwest region, with a preference for candidates located in New Mexico. The successful candidate will work on a diverse portfolio of mining, oil and gas, industrial, and environmental remediation projects. Responsibilities will include site characterization, field investigations, environmental data interpretation, regulatory compliance support, and remediation program implementation. This position offers opportunities for both field and office-based work while collaborating with environmental scientists, engineers, project managers and program managers on complex environmental challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related discipline and 4+ years of professional environmental consulting or environmental geology experience related to mining, oil and gas, and remediation projects, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting environmental investigations, remediation, mining, and oil and gas projects.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) license or ability to obtain licensure.
  • HAZWOPER and MSHA 24-hour Surface Miner certifications
  • Demonstrated project coordination and client-facing experience on complex environmental projects.
  • Experience conducting environmental site assessments and remediation investigations under state and federal regulatory programs.
  • Knowledge of groundwater flow, contaminant transport, hydrogeologic characterization, and remediation technologies.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and regulatory deliverables for mining, oil and gas, and industrial clients.
  • Experience working in arid and semi-arid environments common to the Southwestern United States.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental site assessments, subsurface investigations, and geological evaluations.
  • Perform soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and waste characterization sampling programs.
  • Support mining, oil and gas, and industrial environmental compliance projects.
  • Interpret geological, hydrogeological, and environmental data to support investigation and remediation efforts.
  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, sampling plans, and regulatory submissions.
  • Assist with remediation system design, monitoring, operation, and performance evaluations.
  • Support environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and closure activities.
  • Coordinate field activities, subcontractors, laboratories, and data management efforts.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver environmental solutions for clients.
  • Maintain health and safety compliance during field operations and site activities.
