About The Position

The Environmental Field Scientist II / III is a mid-level environmental professional who provides technical leadership and field oversight for environmental investigation, remediation, environmental construction, and compliance projects. This position serves as a lead technical resource for field teams and project managers, supporting complex environmental projects from planning through execution. The Environmental Field Scientist is responsible for managing field activities, interpreting environmental data, developing technical deliverables, overseeing contractors, and mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and the confidence to independently manage project scope while maintaining Tasman's commitment to safety, quality, and client service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of environmental consulting, remediation, or oil & gas experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading environmental field investigations and remediation projects
  • Strong understanding of environmental sampling methodologies and data interpretation
  • Experience preparing technical reports and regulatory documentation
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and lead field activities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental site assessments, investigations, and remediation activities
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field sampling programs
  • Conduct environmental sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, vapor, and other media
  • Support remediation system evaluations, performance monitoring, and optimization efforts
  • Conduct remediation feasibility studies and pilot testing activities
  • Develop and maintain Conceptual Site Models (CSMs)
  • Support aquifer characterization and hydrogeologic evaluations
  • Review, interpret, and analyze environmental and laboratory data
  • Evaluate site conditions and develop technical recommendations
  • Assist with remediation strategy development and corrective action planning
  • Perform data validation and quality assurance reviews
  • Identify project risks and opportunities for improved project performance
  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, corrective action plans, and regulatory deliverables
  • Ensure project compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Support client communications regarding technical findings and project status
  • Assist in agency coordination and regulatory response activities
  • Maintain project documentation and technical records
  • Lead and supervise on-site field activities
  • Oversee subcontractors, consultants, and remediation contractors
  • Mentor and train Environmental Field Scientists I and II
  • Support Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, and execution
  • Coordinate with engineers, geologists, construction personnel, and technical specialists
  • Manage multiple priorities while ensuring quality project delivery
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with Tasman, client, and regulatory health and safety requirements
  • Conduct field activities in accordance with approved work plans and safety procedures
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and project reviews
  • Utilize PPE and follow all site-specific safety requirements
