About The Position

CDM Smith is looking for an Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineering Spring 2027 Co-Op to join their team and gain real-world experience on projects that make a difference in communities across the country. The co-op will work alongside experienced engineers, collaborate with fellow interns, and get the chance to see how engineering solutions move from an idea on paper to a project in the real world. The ideal applicant will be available to work on a January to May cycle.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some knowledge of ArcGIS, CADD, Excel and Access is also preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop engineering solutions that support real projects—from analysis and planning to reporting and design.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, fellow interns, and multidisciplinary teams while learning how different engineering disciplines come together to solve complex challenges.
  • Build reports, presentations, maps, designs, and other project deliverables using tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
  • When opportunities arise, join our teams in the field and experience construction management activities firsthand. See how projects move from design to construction and gain a better understanding of the full project lifecycle.
  • Develop technical and professional skills, expand your network, and learn from engineers who are actively shaping the future of water, infrastructure, and environmental engineering.
  • Perform other duties as required.
