About The Position

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer with project management experience in Water and Wastewater Treatment to join their growing team in San Jose, CA. In this role, the engineer will manage water and wastewater treatment planning, design, and construction services for various water-related projects in Northern California. Responsibilities include developing detailed engineering plans and specifications for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and conveyance systems. The role also involves leading small design and technical teams and developing client relationships to better serve their needs.

Requirements

Proficient knowledge of environmental engineering principles, methods, and regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to manage assigned tasks independently and meet project deadlines.
Clear and effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Typically, a minimum of 5 years of related work experience in Environmental Engineering or related field.
Experience in preparation of plans and permit applications for environmental projects.
Prior experience in guidance and development of less experienced colleagues.
Typically certified in the SMS Framework, and progressing through the SMS competencies.
BS. or B.S. degree in civil or environmental engineering with a minimum of 6 years of related experience in the water and wastewater treatment and conveyance field. Engineers with other degrees such as Chemical or Mechanical may be considered if they have strong experience in municipal or industrial water treatment facility planning and design.
EIT is required and ability to obtain a P.E in the state of California within the next 6 months is preferred.
Experience leading or supporting competitive sales efforts with municipal clients is required.
Experience managing and delivering water and wastewater treatment and conveyance related planning and design projects in the role as a project manager is required.
Strong written communication skills and experience producing technical reports.
Ability to work in a team environment.
A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related field is required.
Has achieved or is working towards achieving professional license.

Provide technical support for permitting, regulatory approvals, and coordination with vendors and stakeholders.
