Environmental EITs are expected to take on increasing ownership within active mine operations as their technical, regulatory, and operational competence develops. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering.
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering (or related engineering discipline).
Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) and actively working toward P.Eng. designation.
Valid Driver’s License.
Willingness and ability to work in a field-based, operational mining environment.
Strong interest in environmental compliance, sustainability, and practical application of engineering principles in an operational setting.
Ability to adhere to a 5x2 schedule with 8-hour shifts.
Strong commitment to safety with a proven safety and attendance record.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and apply environmental data systems, reporting tools, and regulatory tracking software.
High attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with operations crews and technical teams.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and a hands-on approach to learning.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in mining, heavy industrial, or natural resource operations is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Supporting environmental monitoring programs, including water quality sampling, air quality monitoring, waste management tracking, and data collection to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and permits.
Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting environmental data; preparing technical summaries, reports, and regulatory submissions in accordance with provincial and federal requirements.
Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of environmental management plans, including water management plans, erosion and sediment control plans, waste management plans, and reclamation plans.
Providing hands-on environmental support to site operations, maintenance, and capital projects to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into daily activities and project execution.
Conducting site inspections, audits, and field assessments to identify environmental risks, non-compliances, and improvement opportunities, and supporting corrective actions.
Supporting permitting, approvals, and regulatory correspondence, including coordination with regulators, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Participating in incident investigations, environmental reporting, and follow-up actions related to spills, exceedances, or non-compliance events.
Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Water Treatment, to support safe, compliant, and efficient mine operations.
Developing leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills through interaction with site personnel, regulators, and external partners.
Managing assigned environmental responsibilities with increasing independence while receiving mentorship from Environmental Engineers, site leadership, and senior environmental professionals.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation to support regulatory compliance, audits, and professional development requirements.
Building the progressive technical and practical experience required to advance toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensure.
