About The Position

The MacKay team in Vancouver, WA, is expanding and seeking a growth-focused, dedicated, relationship-driven Civil Engineer (EIT) to join. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a talented team to design gas pipeline and utility infrastructure projects, while also supporting land development, public works, and transportation efforts for our clients. You’ll play a key part in powering and shaping the communities we serve by delivering high-quality, thoughtful solutions. We’re seeking an individual with strong technical skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for making a meaningful impact. Requirements

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • EIT Certification or ability to sit for the exam within 12 months of hire
  • Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to organize, analyze, and present data using spreadsheets, formulas, and basic functions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on natural gas projects, including pipeline systems, and distribution networks
  • Experience on utility projects, including utility layout and design and preparation of plans and specifications for construction
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new tools and processes
  • Receptive to training and feedback, with a strong willingness to continuously improve
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, shows ownership of responsibilities, and proactively seeks solutions

Responsibilities

  • Prepare site layouts, grading plans, utility designs, and drainage systems for a variety of utility, land development, public works, and transportation projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to support design decisions.
  • Ensure project timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met in collaboration with project managers.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and local agencies to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Review and interpret survey reports, maps, and as-built drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and cost estimates.
  • Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
