Environmental Crew Leader - Venice
About The Position
We are seeking a Crew Leader to join our team, focusing on landscape and site work for large home builders in the Sarasota to Venice to North Port area. The primary responsibility is to keep job sites clean and up to code. This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you will work alongside your crew, not supervise from a distance. The main task involves installing silt fence on new home construction sites, which is more akin to fence work and dirt work than traditional landscaping. We are willing to train individuals with a strong work ethic, good attendance, and a desire to learn.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work hard in demanding outdoor conditions, including Florida heat.
- Reliable attendance, showing up on time and ready to work each morning.
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, take direction, and improve.
- Ability to lead and motivate a small team (one or two people) to stay productive.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in landscaping, irrigation, lawn care, sod, fencing, or construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead a small crew of 1 or 2 people, working alongside them to set the pace and ensure work is done correctly.
- Train new crew members.
- Install silt fence by digging, setting posts, and hanging fabric, often involving heavy work by hand and with a trencher.
- Operate equipment, including a trencher.
- Load, unload, and tie down tools and gear.
- Walk job sites to identify and resolve problems, keeping sites ready.
