About The Position

The Environmental Compliance Specialist supports the execution of CLP’s environmental compliance programs by ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. This role is responsible for day-to-day compliance activities including reporting, audits, inspections, and documentation, with a focus on maintaining regulatory compliance across operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 4+ years of environmental compliance or EH&S experience.
  • Experience with NPDES permitting, CARB reporting, SF₆ emissions reporting, environmental audits, and inspections.
  • Knowledge of PFAS management and EPA regulations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, and RCRA.
  • Experience with air compliance, permitting, chemical inventory management, and environmental documentation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 30%
  • Must be able to work in the US without a work visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in utility, construction, industrial, energy, or infrastructure environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with California and New York environmental regulations preferred.
  • HAZWOPER 40-Hour and/or OSHA 30-Hour certifications preferred.
  • High-voltage utility or infrastructure experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit environmental reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including NPDES permits and multi-state reporting requirements.
  • Manage environmental permits, reporting schedules, and compliance obligations to ensure timely and accurate regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with CARB requirements and track SF₆ inventory, usage, emissions, and associated regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain environmental records, emissions data, permits, and compliance documentation in an organized, audit-ready manner.
  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews, including corrective action tracking and resolution.
  • Coordinate hazardous waste management activities, including generator status compliance (SQG/LQG), waste handling, storage, transportation, and disposal in accordance with RCRA and state regulations.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, tracking, and documentation of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Conduct field and construction site inspections to verify environmental compliance and identify corrective actions.
  • Partner with operations and field personnel to implement environmental programs, provide compliance guidance, and ensure adherence to environmental requirements.
  • Assist with environmental incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, checklists, and compliance procedures to support consistent execution and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay current on environmental regulations and industry best practices.
  • Perform other environmental compliance and EH&S-related duties as assigned.
