About The Position

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Environmental Compliance Inspection Technician. The Environmental Compliance Inspection Technician reports to the Environmental Compliance Regulatory Coordinator. The primary functions of this position include: Conduct inspections of public and private facilities across Gilbert to evaluate air quality, storm water, and hazardous materials compliance — including drafting enforcement actions when needed. Analyze new and proposed environmental regulations to determine their impact on Town operations, and provide departments with clear compliance direction. Develop and review compliance programs, plans, and corrective action strategies to keep Town operations aligned with regulatory requirements. Provide oversight and direction for consultant field activities, and represent the Town at meetings with regulatory agencies and regional cooperative efforts. Deliver public outreach, education, and training programs to help Town personnel and the community understand environmental compliance requirements. This is an FLSA Non-Exempt, at-will position with the Town of Gilbert.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or a two-year Technical Certificate (Bachelor's degree in environmental education, environmental science, or a closely related field highly desirable)
  • 2 years of experience in environmental programs, including compliance assessment and implementation of environmental public education programs
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain MS4 Compliance & Code Enforcement Certified Inspector certification within 6 months of hire
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License
  • This position requires a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
