About The Position
Parsons is seeking an Environmental Compliance Field Inspector Manager for the Gateway Project. The role involves reviewing construction work plans and reporting on compliance with environmental and permitting requirements. The Gateway Program is a rail infrastructure initiative between Newark, New Jersey, and New York City. Its first phase, the Hudson Tunnel Project, includes construction of a new two-track tunnel beneath the Hudson River connecting to Penn Station New York and rehabilitation of the existing North River Tunnel. The Gateway Development Commission is responsible for financing and developing the Hudson Tunnel Project. This position is part of Parsons’ Critical Infrastructure team, which works collaboratively with partners and customers to plan, design, build, and modernize infrastructure, with a focus on improving communities, mobility, sustainability, and resiliency. The role requires travel throughout the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, or a closely related discipline.
- 10–15+ years of prior experience performing construction site inspections.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel throughout the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.
- Valid driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience providing environmental inspections for New York, New Jersey, and/or New York City agencies.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with current refreshers.
Responsibilities
- Perform field audits of environmental documentation and field activities.
- Review and prepare written technical reports documenting environmental construction compliance.
- Report inconsistencies, environmental permitting requirements, and contract specifications to the environmental compliance team.
- Provide oversight of construction as it relates to environmental compliance.
- Interpret scientific data and specifications.
