About The Position
Parsons is seeking an Environmental Compliance Field Inspector to support the Gateway Program, including the Hudson Tunnel Project. The role involves reviewing construction work plans and regularly reporting on compliance with environmental permitting requirements. The Gateway Program is a set of rail investments intended to improve commuter and intercity services, strengthen resiliency, and add capacity between Newark, New Jersey, and New York City. The Hudson Tunnel Project includes building a new two-track tunnel beneath the Hudson River connecting to Penn Station New York and rehabilitating the existing North River Tunnel. The position is part of Parsons’ Critical Infrastructure team, which works collaboratively with partners and customers to plan, design, build, and modernize infrastructure. The work supports projects intended to promote economic growth, improve mobility, and increase sustainability and resiliency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, or a closely related discipline.
- 10–15+ years of prior experience performing construction site inspections.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel throughout the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area.
- Valid driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience providing environmental inspections in and for New York, New Jersey, and/or New York City agencies.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with current refreshers.
Responsibilities
- Perform field audits of environmental documentation and field activities.
- Review and prepare written technical reports documenting environmental construction compliance.
- Report inconsistencies, environmental permitting requirements, and contract specifications to the environmental compliance team.
- Provide oversight of construction as it relates to environmental compliance.
- Interpret scientific data and specifications.
- Review construction work plans and regularly report on compliance and environmental permitting requirements.
