About The Position

As an Environmental Code Compliance Officer, you’ll play an important role in protecting our natural resources and enhancing the quality of life in our community. You’ll be out in the field investigating concerns, inspecting residential and commercial properties, reviewing development plans, and helping ensure environmental, landscaping, and tree protection requirements are met. Just as importantly, you’ll serve as a trusted resource for residents, property owners, contractors, and community partners—helping them understand regulations, identify solutions, and achieve compliance. From protecting native plants and wildlife to addressing environmental violations and representing the County at hearings, your work will help create a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable community for everyone. Your purpose is to help protect the character, safety, and natural beauty of our community by turning environmental and development regulations into meaningful action. Each day will bring a new opportunity to make an impact—whether you’re navigating the community to assess a property, reviewing zoning plats and development plans, using GIS and aerial imagery to research a site, documenting field conditions through digital photography, or helping a resident or business understand the path toward compliance. You’ll apply your knowledge of local codes, land development regulations, Florida statutes, and our native ecosystems while balancing sound judgment with exceptional customer service. Back in the office, you’ll keep cases moving forward by maintaining accurate records, preparing clear reports and correspondence, managing priorities, and collaborating with colleagues and community partners. This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working with people—and who wants their day-to-day work to have a visible impact on the community they serve.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three (3) years of experience in code enforcement, and inspection
• Valid driver’s license
• Level I certification through the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E.)
