About The Position

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking a high-impact, business development–focused Associate Prinicpal to lead growth within our Natural Resources practice. This role is designed for a proven rainmaker who thrives on building relationships, winning work, and expanding market presence—while leading teams to deliver exceptional results. This is not a traditional project manager role. Success is measured by: Revenue growth, Client expansion, Market influence.

Requirements

Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting.
Minimum 10 years of related experience
Proven track record of winning work and growing revenue in environmental consulting
Strong existing client network and industry presence
Leadership mindset with the ability to build and scale teams
Comfortable operating at both strategic and client-facing levels
Candidates must have achieved previous designation as Associate Principal at ECS or hold similar designation from competitor firm

Nice To Haves

Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Professional Arborist, Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred

Responsibilities

Drive new business acquisition through networking, referrals, and industry engagement
Identify, pursue, and win strategic opportunities and major contracts
Build and maintain executive-level client relationships
Lead proposal strategy, pricing, and positioning to maximize win rates and profitability
Collaborate with leadership to define and execute market growth strategies
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, positioning ECS as a go-to partner
Represent ECS at industry events, associations, and conferences
Monitor market trends and competitors to identify growth opportunities
Lead, mentor, and grow a team aligned with business objectives
Provide high-level oversight of project execution (not day-to-day task management)
Ensure projects are delivered profitably and strengthen client relationships
