Under the general direction of the Environmental Protection Board (EPB) of the City of Stamford and its Executive Director, performs professional and technical assignments to assist in the implementation of local environmental regulations, policies and programs; does related work as required. Assists in the review of inland wetland/watercourse, flood prone area, subdivision and other land use permit applications. Conducts independent research and field evaluations for preparing environmental impact assessment summaries. Conducts on-site property inspections, documents observations and prepares reports to confirm compliance with the Stamford Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Regulations and the Stamford Flood Prone Area Regulations, the requirements of EPB permits and enforcement actions, and the environmental provisions of other local land use approvals. Reviews building permit applications, site plans and other related materials to ensure consistency with local environmental regulations, policies and programs. Responds to public inquiries and provides guidance to members of the public and/or consultants by phone, email, and during walk-in hours pertaining to permit requirements and the permit application process for land use agencies. Maintains various EPB permit files, records and databases. Uses independent judgment, creativity and initiative in daily dealing with superiors, public and other governmental agencies.
