About The Position

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist drives initiatives that builds a culture of continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and an environment that result in fewer lost days, unexpected call outs due to injury, and overall reduction in worker’s compensation claims for two facilities in Jacksonville, FL , Armor and Duty Gear. Reporting into the Director, Operations, the role owns regulatory compliance, advocating for root cause, and deploying process and working condition improvements that cultivate a best-in-class manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5-7 years’ experience in Safety and Environmental Management in a manufacturing facility
  • Working knowledge of Safety and Environmental Regulations, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
  • Proficient with MS Software and Internet based research

Nice To Haves

  • ASP, CSP, CHMM or other industry accepted certification programs are desirable
  • Spanish Speaking (Professional Capabilities) a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an inspection and audit protocol to evaluate and maintain compliance
  • Implement and maintain programs in support of regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Implement and maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 EHS management systems as applicable
  • Implement and maintain continuous improvement programs
  • Maintain all required safety and environmental operating permits
  • Develop and implement; lockout/tagout, electrical safety, machine guarding, fire safety, housekeeping, walking working surfaces and other general industry safety programs
  • Develop and maintain Power industrial trucks, manlifts and rack safety programs
  • Lead compliance with storm water regulations, maintain spill prevention and control plans, oversee inspections and records
  • Serve as safety program coordinator, lead site communication and training related to safety and crisis
  • Reduce lost days by leading risk assessments and processes that improve the work environment
  • Lead incident investigation to analyze, identify prevention, deploy counter measures and training
  • Maintain written PPE program and oversee compliance with program, including incentives
  • Reduce worker’s compensation claims by developing initiatives to improve safety, hearing, ergonomic conditions
  • Oversee characterization, labeling and storage of non-hazardous and hazard waste streams
  • Coordinate training and inspection programs to ensure compliance with policies
  • Ensure manifest files and records are maintained to regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and post current chemical inventory lists on the document management website
  • Utilize and support information and policies on the document management website
  • Maintain status of EHS tasks on the task management website
  • Work with HR to collect data to maintain OSHA Logs and manage WC claims, upload and manage to claim website
  • Analyze injury data and routinely update TCIR and LWIR and maintain information on the OSHA 300 log website
  • Manage active Worker’s Compensation Cases
  • Lead Injury Investigations
  • Manage existing Management of Change
  • Lead equipment annual certifications and inspections and evaluate industrial hygiene factors
  • Waste monitoring and new waste: General process review and new waste for MOC processes
  • Manage Workplace Ergonomics program
  • General facility Support: Maintain and lead EHS boards, meetings, and general support
  • Own EHS training programs
  • Support testing and deployment of EHS Management System Application
  • Support testing and deployment of EHS Management System Application under pilot in Mexico
