Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies or biology required / Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience, including one specialization in environmental management (regulations, awareness, etc.) and expertise in plant processes (processes, chemical, technical calculations, etc.), required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in French and English (English required to work with colleagues and clients in other Canadian provinces).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in environmental studies, preferred.
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes an asset.
  • Food manufacturing experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Environmental Manager with duties pertaining to upholding environmental legal obligations and executing environmental projects.
  • Oversee the completion of action plans and certain tasks heretofore handled by the plants.
  • Ensure Canadian plants adhere to appropriate environmental legal obligations in areas such as managing emergencies, liaising with governmental departments, and providing technical support.
  • Ensure plants are compliant with specific rules identified during the environmental review.
  • Compile environmental impacts and handle mandatory reporting to governmental departments and municipalities (water and energy consumption, emission of pollutants into the atmosphere and the water, carbon footprint), as well as the plants’ annual environmental review and computerize the review process.
  • Draft, maintain, and share a technical guide of best environmental practices (milk processing processes).
