About The Position
Ensures the health care centers and other entities are clean and well maintained. To ensure that the Health Care Centers follow state and federal and UHS-Pruitt guidelines. This position is responsible for directing the daily operations of the Environmental Services section of the Facilities Management department. Environmental Services includes both the housekeeping and laundry functions. This position shall be responsible for directing and supervising assigned staff and their function for the UHS-Pruitt campus, in order to maintain a safe, hygienic, and efficient environment for residents, guests, and staff. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines, maintaining/updating environmental policies and procedures manuals in keeping with compliance guidelines, and keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations involving the department.
Requirements
- Directing the daily operations of the Environmental Services section of the Facilities Management department.
- Directing and supervising assigned staff and their function for the UHS-Pruitt campus.
- Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Maintaining/updating environmental policies and procedures manuals in keeping with compliance guidelines.
- Keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations involving the department.
- Detailed knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures appropriate for a health care setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepares work schedules, assign work to Environmental Service personal while supervising daily functions of the division
- Ensures the facility is following the guidelines
- Establishes required levels of linen, written specifications for all linen items, and specifications for all environmental chemicals.
- Maintains adequate levels of supplies for the Environmental Service department
- Plans and develops a plan of correction for deficiencies noted on survey inspections
- Develops written procedure manuals for Environmental Service Division and is responsible for overall compliance from staff.
- Makes recommendations of the Administrators, A-VP, and VP for capital equipment items
- Establishes and maintain a formal, continuing education program and on the job training for the Environmental Service Manager. As well as the housekeeper and laundry supervisors
- Establishes production and job standards, monitoring performance
- Develops and maintains a Quality Assurance Program for the Environmental Service Department in order to maintain the highest degree of proficiency
- Develops proper procedures to be followed regarding Environmental Service needs in the Health Care Center.
- Conducts partner evaluations on all Environmental Services/Housekeeping Staff.
- Works within the departmental budget to ensure that operations are kept within the agreed framework.
- Controls monthly expenditures, using detailed knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures appropriate for a health care setting, in order to operate the budget within allowable guidelines.
- Provides input to Administrator and Director Facilities Management in the preparation of the annual departmental budget.
- Establishes departmental goals to meet or exceed all regulatory and customer service expectations, standards of performance, operating policies and procedures.
- Special projects as assigned by the Administrator
