About The Position

Manages the housekeeping department; establishes policies, procedure, objectives, and work standards. Maintains quality control and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

High School or equivalent
Sufficient previous administrative/supervisory experience in a hospital or similar institution
Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.

Responsibilities

Selects, trains/orients and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
Develops department goals and objectives, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operation.
Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget.
Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for top management, as required.
Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates and supervises functions and activities of the housekeeping department to maintain the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition and comply with regulatory requirements.
Schedules and supervises housekeeping functions and activities so as not to interrupt or interfere with patient care activities.
Provides essential equipment and supplies and ensures that cleaning agents/housekeeping chemicals meet required standards to effect maximum cleanliness and sanitation.
Investigates and evaluates new housekeeping supplies and equipment and makes recommendations to administration.
Inspects and evaluates the hospital's physical condition. Makes recommendations concerning painting, repairs, furnishings and furniture, relocation of equipment, and allocation of space to improve sanitation, appearances, and efficiency.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
