About The Position

This position involves greeting patients, answering questions with care and compassion, and assisting with check-ins via kiosk or tablet. The role requires flexibility to work in both the lobby and draw room to cover breaks. A key aspect is performing forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties confidently, following established practices. A high level of customer service is essential, along with the ability to create an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures accurately and safely. The phlebotomist will demonstrate excellence in customer care, focusing on process skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. Daily activities must be performed accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor. Maintaining a safe and professional environment, required records, and documentation is also crucial. The role involves promoting a positive image and assisting patients with check-in to ensure they feel comfortable while waiting for laboratory services. Filling in for breaks and covering staffing shortages are expected duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle patients with care and compassion while assisting with check ins in the lobby through either a self-service kiosk or handheld tablet.
  • Willingness to work both in the lobby and in a draw room with patients to help with breaks that need to be covered.
  • Ability to perform with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
  • High level of customer service experience and skills are required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Phlebotomy experience is required, including internship or externship experience to learn the basics.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of client facing customer service experience is required.
  • Keyboard and data entry experience is required.
  • Phlebotomy certification or training.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients upon arrival and answer any questions or concerns with care and compassion.
  • Maintain the integrity of the waiting area and assist with breaks when other Phlebotomists are unavailable.
  • Utilize Phlebotomy skills to grow within the organization.
  • Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining scheduled procedures to patients in a safe and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrate excellence in customer care while focusing on process skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Assist patients with check-in at the kiosk and help them feel comfortable while waiting for laboratory services.
  • Fill in for breaks and cover for staffing shortages as needed.
