Veolia Water Technologies, Inc. is hiring an entry-level wastewater operator to learn and control treatment plants, machines, and equipment used to clarify and purify water and wastewater for permitted industrial uses. The role involves training at several local facilities and traveling to other locations to learn different wastewater treatment processes. Once trained, the employee will help cover shift vacancies and support projects. This is intended to be a one-year position that prepares the employee for a longer-term role, such as Wastewater Technician 1, Water Technician 1, or Regional Training & Operations Technician. To graduate from the program, the employee must obtain a state or ABC water/wastewater license. The employee will participate in the electronic VWT Operator In Training program, receive training materials and designated study time, and study for a physical/chemical or biological wastewater certification exam. Work takes place at wastewater treatment plants and outdoors, with exposure to extreme weather and potentially hazardous conditions. The role requires flexibility to work day, evening, and night shifts, including a primary designation of 12-hour night shifts, and shifts may range from 8 to 12 hours. Travel may involve one to two weeks away from home and could reach 50% while learning new treatment processes and systems.
