About The Position

AMT is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join its Transportation team of design professionals in the Towson, Maryland office. The position is scheduled to start in January 2027 after graduation and offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects, develop a career, and advance as a Transportation Engineer. The engineer will support projects in the assigned office and may also work with other AMT offices and project opportunities. The role offers a hybrid schedule combining office and remote work, along with a competitive salary and benefits.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Engineering-in-Training certification, or the ability to obtain it within 6–12 months.
Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior internship or work experience; experience with municipal or State/U.S. Department of Transportation projects is a plus.
Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/InRoads or OpenRoads.
Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction surveying concepts.

Responsibilities

Support projects that may involve collecting data and evaluating existing conditions and alternatives for engineering reports.
Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, perform cross-section and superelevation design, and complete roadway modeling.
Develop transportation infrastructure plans and compute quantity takeoffs.
