About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist to join their Remediation team in their Bloomfield or Piscataway, New Jersey office. This is a field-based role with approximately 80% fieldwork and 20% office work. The candidate will be part of a large team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across New York and New Jersey. The role requires effective communication with project teams, clients, site personnel, and management, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Travel outside of New York and New Jersey may be required for project support across the United States.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Geology or related field.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in GIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) software.
  • Experience using Esri products preferably ArcGIS REST API, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Portal for ArcGIS, Survey123, and Field Maps.
  • CAD experience and ability to work with CAD to understand BIM/GIS interfaces.
  • Database knowledge (ArcGIS for Server, EQuIS, MS Access, and/or SQL Server).
  • Experience in the use of ModelBuilder, ArcPy, and geoprocessing tools as well as developing scripts in Visual Basic, Python, and/or JavaScript to automate tasks.
  • Experience and/or coursework related to environmental remediation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
  • Experience with field and/or construction documentation.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine fieldwork, working under close supervision from project managers.
  • Field work may include soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater sampling, operation and maintenance of remedial systems, and drilling and remedial construction oversight including subcontractor management.
  • Participating in site visits and coordinating and assisting field staff as required.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
  • Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced scientist/engineer.
  • Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks.
