About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist to join their Remediation team in their Bloomfield or Piscataway, New Jersey office. This role is primarily field-based, with approximately 80% fieldwork and 20% office-based work. The successful candidate will be part of a large, established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across New York and New Jersey. The role requires effective communication with project teams, clients, site personnel, and management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Travel outside of New York and New Jersey for project support across the United States may be required for days to weeks at a time.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Geology or related field.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in GIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) software.
  • Experience using Esri products preferably ArcGIS REST API, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Portal for ArcGIS, Survey123, and Field Maps.
  • CAD experience and ability to work with CAD to understand BIM/GIS interfaces.
  • Database knowledge (ArcGIS for Server, EQuIS, MS Access, and/or SQL Server).
  • Experience in the use of ModelBuilder, ArcPy, and geoprocessing tools as well as developing scripts in Visual Basic, Python, and/or JavaScript to automate tasks.
  • Experience and/or coursework related to environmental remediation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
  • Experience with field and/or construction documentation.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine fieldwork under close supervision from project managers.
  • Conducting soil, sediment, surface water, and/or groundwater sampling.
  • Operating and maintaining remedial systems.
  • Providing oversight for drilling and remedial construction, including subcontractor management.
  • Participating in site visits and coordinating/assisting field staff.
  • Performing work within agreed-upon budgets and schedules under supervision.
  • Developing knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and assigned job specifications.
  • Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced scientist/engineer.
  • Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks.
