About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist to join their Remediation team in their Latham, NY office. This role is primarily field-based (approximately 80% field work, 20% office work) and involves working with a diverse team on environmental assessment and remediation projects across New York and New Jersey. The position requires effective communication with project teams, clients, site personnel, and management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Travel outside of New York and New Jersey for project support across the United States may be required for days to weeks at a time.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Geology or related field.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in GIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) software.
  • Experience using Esri products, preferably ArcGIS REST API, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Portal for ArcGIS, Survey123, and Field Maps.
  • CAD experience and ability to work with CAD to understand BIM/GIS interfaces.
  • Database knowledge (ArcGIS for Server, EQuIS, MS Access, and/or SQL Server).
  • Experience in the use of ModelBuilder, ArcPy, and geoprocessing tools.
  • Experience developing scripts in Visual Basic, Python, and/or JavaScript to automate tasks.
  • Experience and/or coursework related to environmental remediation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
  • Experience with field and/or construction documentation.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine fieldwork under close supervision from project managers, which may include soil, sediment, surface water, and/or groundwater sampling.
  • Operation and maintenance of remedial systems.
  • Drilling and remedial construction oversight, including subcontractor management.
  • Participating in site visits and coordinating/assisting field staff.
  • Performing work within agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Developing knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and assigned job specifications.
  • Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced scientist/engineer.
  • Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks.
