Entry-Level F-15 Flight Test Data Engineer

Boeing•USA - Eglin AFB, FL, FL
•$71,400 - $96,600•Onsite

About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking an entry-level engineer to join a specialized Boeing Test & Evaluation team conducting F-15 tactical fighter aircraft flight test activities on-site at Eglin AFB, Florida. The role offers a collaborative, innovation-friendly environment with peer mentoring, knowledge sharing, opportunities to take initiative, and developing leadership responsibilities. The engineer will develop and run automated digital data-processing software to merge and convert raw data into engineering visualization products. The position also involves creating systems-analysis applications using neural networks, machine learning, and digital models; developing algorithms for automated performance assessments; troubleshooting and root-cause analysis; and characterizing systems by comparing real-world performance with digital models. The work includes frequent interaction with multiple engineering groups and technical teams. The role provides exposure to advanced technology systems in early development, hands-on experience, self-paced on-site training, and structured experience toward becoming a subject matter expert in aircraft, weapons, sensor systems, and data analysis. Projects may involve fire-control radar, electronic jammers, RF and IR sensors, aircraft computing systems, radar- and IR-guided missiles, control systems, jet engines, satellite navigation and communication systems, and encrypted aircraft data networks. The engineer may design data tools and algorithms using automation, pattern recognition, machine learning, neural networks, and digital performance models, and use them to evaluate systems for integration onto F-15 aircraft.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or directly related non-U.S. equivalent qualifications.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. Government, and an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance is required post-start.
  • Ability to obtain program access; U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. Government.
  • Must meet U.S. export-control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person, as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62.
  • Must satisfy the company's Conflict of Interest assessment process.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong Python, C#, and scripting skills, along with an innovation mindset.
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance; a clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active.
  • Ability to create software-based algorithms, applications, and scripts.
  • Ability to develop neural networks, machine learning, and autonomous data-centric operations.
  • Experience in data processing, detailed systems data analysis, data interpretation, data analysis, data fusion or merging, and/or data visualization.
  • Understanding of digital representations of alphanumeric data, such as MIL-STD-1553 data bus, MIL-STD-1760 weapon interface protocols, fiber, or Ethernet.
  • Understanding of or experience with Python, C++11, C++14, C#, Microsoft Visual Studio, WPF and MVVM, object-oriented programming and design, neural-network data selection and training, or machine-learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, and TensorFlow.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and run automated digital data-processing software applications to merge and convert raw data files into engineering visualization products.
  • Develop autonomous and semi-autonomous systems-analysis applications based on neural networks, machine learning, and digital models.
  • Develop algorithms to support automated systems-performance assessments.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting to distinguish actual problems from non-problems.
  • Characterize systems and analyze real-world performance against digital models.
  • Collaborate and share knowledge with multiple engineering groups and technical teams on investigative engineering tasks.
  • Design and develop data tools and algorithms based on digital automation, pattern recognition, machine learning, neural networks, and digital performance models.
  • Use data tools to evaluate electronic and weapons systems for integration onto F-15 fighter aircraft.

Benefits

  • Eligible employees may enroll in health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and programs providing paid and unpaid time away from work.
  • Competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities.
