About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer to support its Remediation team within the Environment business line. This position is expected to begin in June 2027, with flexibility in the start date. The role involves serving as a team member in both office and field settings, assisting with site investigations, design and implementation of remediation programs for soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water, data analysis, remediation construction, program management, and report preparation. The position is approximately 60% field and 40% office. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex remediation projects, access company resources, and collaborate with experienced colleagues and subject matter specialists, fostering technical growth in the industry.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field + 0 years of related experience and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid US Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must pass the AECOM Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Position requires frequent traveling to field locations in personal vehicle.
  • Locations and distances vary and could include occasional overnight travel and operation of rental vehicle.
  • Frequently lifting, carrying, and loading equipment such as sample coolers, without assistance up to 50lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of basic engineering, chemistry, and environmental sciences.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated interest in environmental remediation.
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office suite software applications.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.
  • Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.
  • Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently, both in an office environment and in the field.
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Ability to travel locally, including occasional extended travel.
  • Previous experience operating a full-size pickup truck or large sport utility vehicle.
  • Mechanical aptitude is strongly desired.
  • Passing Engineering-in-Training (FE) test is strongly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Project field and office support for site assessment and remediation projects.
  • Site visits at industrial, federal, commercial, and municipal client facilities.
  • Data collection and analysis for environmental compliance and sustainability.
  • Compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Environmental sampling (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, stormwater, wastewater, air, and hazardous waste).
  • Development of technical memoranda and reports.
  • Building analytic and engineering design skills under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Use of computer software (e.g. CAD, GIS, data analysis tools) as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Local travel is likely and U.S travel possible and project dependent.
  • Field work in locations as appropriate (approximately 60%).
