About The Position

The Mechanicsburg, PA and Philadelphia, PA offices of Modjeski and Masters are looking for Entry Level Engineers interested in Movable Bridge Design. The Movable Bridge Unit focuses on the structural, mechanical, and electrical design of movable bridges of all types. Projects include new design of movable structures, structural, mechanical, and electrical inspection and rehabilitation of existing bridges. Our instrumentation group is housed in this unit and focuses on short term monitoring of bridges and other structures using a wide variety of gauges and instrumentation. Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers as well as CADD Technicians make up the staff of this unit. Requirements

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University.
  • Transcripts may be requested.
  • A valid EI certification, or in the process of obtaining.
  • Coursework in Bridge Design, Structural Steel Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, Finite Element Modeling.
  • Basic knowledge of computer assisted drafting and design.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • MS in Civil Engineering is Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to use standard engineering analysis software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members.
  • Ability to effectively receive and convey ideas and information orally and in writing with co-workers, project managers, supervisor s , and other team members.
  • Review and check standard structural design calculations.
  • Perform limited structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using general analysis software, client-specific software and in-house programs under direct guidance from project managers and senior-level engineers.
  • Perform limited on-site structural assessments and inspections.
  • Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans directly related to design work.
  • Prepare project-related documents and internal correspondence.
  • Perform and check quantity take-offs from contract plans.
  • Review and check basic structural drawings and shop drawings.
  • Provide information for design reports.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including field and construction services assignments.
