About The Position

The Entry Clerk will call trainers in the morning to inform them of upcoming races and make entries. This role requires dependability, good attendance, and occasional overtime. The clerk will receive instructions from the Racing Secretary detailing the number and types of races to occur in the upcoming weeks, make calls to trainers to take entries to fill races, and document horses entering. Additionally, the clerk will print out results of each race day ("overnight") and distribute them to appropriate departments, and assist the Racing Secretary with ad-hoc projects. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 years related experience and/or training; or combination.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the Rules of Racing.
  • Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functions.
  • Texas Racing Commission License (TXRC)
  • Stand, sit and walk consistently
  • Will be required to lift up to or over 20lbs or exert occasionally over 100lbs
  • Will consistently be required to touch, feel, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, reach
  • Will use office equipment
  • Driving motor vehicles as needed
  • Frequently speak and articulate
