About The Position

Universal Orlando is seeking skilled individuals for full-time opportunities as Entertainment Maintenance Technicians (Tech I, Tech II, Tech III). These roles are crucial for supporting Entertainment shows and offerings by performing advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, and repairs of technical entertainment equipment and systems. Responsibilities include modifications, testing, installing, and commissioning of replacement systems, as well as providing technical and mechanical support for daily operations. The positions require a systematic approach to diagnosing and repairing equipment, utilizing technical manuals and drawings, and maintaining accurate records in department tracking systems. Team members will also participate in learning opportunities, adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of entertainment systems theory as well as practical training and experience.
  • 5-8 years’ experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing entertainment equipment (Tech I).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in electrical repairs in DC or AC systems, preferred (Tech I).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in design, installation, or maintenance of A/V & entertainment systems (Tech I).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing entertainment equipment (Tech II).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in electrical repairs in DC or AC systems, preferred (Tech II).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in design, installation, or operation of A/V & entertainment systems (Tech II).
  • 1-3 years’ experience in maintaining and repair of entertainment equipment (Tech III).
  • 1-3 years basic troubleshooting knowledge of entertainment systems (Tech III).
  • Valid Florida driver’s license requires.
  • Computer experience with basic knowledge of MS, MSWord, MS Excel a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge in the set-up and ongoing maintenance of A/V & Entertainment systems.
  • Must possess knowledge of entertainment systems theory as well as practical training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis, troubleshooting, and implementation of immediate and long-term repairs and solutions to improve operational reliability, safety, and serviceability of Entertainment equipment and systems.
  • Utilizing a systematic approach to researching defective or ineffective parts/systems using technical manuals, technical drawings, and external resources.
  • Provide accurate data entry and timely communications on tasks, corrective actions and/or repairs made while listing parts required implementing the repairs into department utilized tracking system(s).
  • Research and specify parts to replace.
  • Complete any hard copy maintenance records or physical logbook entries, where appropriate.
  • Performs job duties as described for department’s non-lead job descriptions.
  • Performs modifications to equipment and systems as directed by Universal Orlando Entertainment.
  • Communicates and coordinates with other departments or crafts as needed.
  • Communicates resource needs and work plans to supervision.
  • Actively participates in learning opportunities in entertainment technologies for all disciplines.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts field repairs, bench repairs, troubleshooting, testing, installing, and commissioning of technical entertainment equipment and systems.
  • Conducts daily venue startups and assessments, perform routine preventative, diagnostic, and corrective maintenance.
  • Performs diagnostics and repairs to address system failures and provide immediate and/or long-term corrective actions and repairs that will improve operation reliability, safety and serviceability of entertainment show equipment and systems.
  • Entails logical extensive troubleshooting, referencing of technical drawings/manuals, specifications.
  • Involves researching defective components and instructional information to complete the repair process when required.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and preventative maintenance on technical entertainment systems and elements.
  • Inspections and preventative maintenance include, testing, cleaning, replacement, and/or calibration of applicable control circuits/systems.
  • Responds to calls for service, show down incidents, show element quality repairs, and related issues in adherence with all applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Initiates and engages in positive interactions with internal partners.
  • Perform start up and checks of Entertainment venues to ensure the technical entertainment show systems and elements are ready for daily operation.
  • Utilize company resources to stay current on current equipment use in entertainment systems to maintain a high show quality.
  • Apply basic troubleshooting skills to diagnose system failures and to provide immediate and/or long-term corrective actions that will improve operation reliability.
