About The Position

Universal Orlando is seeking skilled individuals to join their Entertainment Maintenance team, focusing on mechanical aspects. These roles involve supporting entertainment shows and offerings through troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of technical entertainment equipment and systems. Responsibilities include modifications, testing, installation, and commissioning of new systems, as well as providing day-to-day technical and mechanical support. The positions require a systematic approach to problem-solving, utilizing technical manuals and drawings, and maintaining accurate records of work performed. Team members are expected to actively participate in learning opportunities, adhere to environmental, health, and safety policies, and collaborate with other departments.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of entertainment systems theory and practical training/experience.
  • 5-8 years’ experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing entertainment equipment (Tech I).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing entertainment equipment (Tech II).
  • 1-3 years’ experience in maintaining and repair of entertainment equipment (Tech III).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in electrical repairs in DC or AC systems, preferred (Tech I).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in electrical repairs in DC or AC systems, preferred (Tech II).
  • 1-3 years basic troubleshooting knowledge of entertainment systems (Tech III).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in design, installation, or maintenance of A/V & entertainment systems (Tech I).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in design, installation, or operation of A/V & entertainment systems (Tech II).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license required.
  • Computer experience with basic knowledge of MS, MSWord, MS Excel a plus (Tech I).
  • Christie Certification Training (Tech II).
  • Q-Sys Level 1, Dante Level 1 (Tech II).
  • Q-Sys Level 2, Control Training 201, Control & UCI Fundamentals (Tech II).
  • Dante Level 2 or 3 (Tech II).
  • SMAART Technologies Software Certification (Tech II).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree (AA) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in related field preferred.
  • Certificates and factory training desired (Tech I).
  • Cable terminations and labeling desired (Tech I).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and implement repairs and solutions to improve operational reliability, safety, and serviceability of Entertainment equipment and systems.
  • Utilize a systematic approach to research defective parts/systems using technical manuals, drawings, and external resources.
  • Provide accurate data entry and timely communications on tasks, corrective actions, and repairs into department tracking systems.
  • Research and specify parts for replacement.
  • Complete hard copy maintenance records or physical logbook entries as appropriate.
  • Perform modifications to equipment and systems as directed.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments or crafts as needed.
  • Communicate resource needs and work plans to supervision.
  • Actively participate in learning opportunities in entertainment technologies for all disciplines.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs to address system failures and provide immediate and/or long-term corrective actions.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and preventative maintenance on technical entertainment systems and elements (audio, lighting, video, electrical, laser, network systems).
  • Respond to calls for service, show down incidents, and show element quality repairs.
  • Initiate and engage in positive interactions with internal partners.
  • Perform start-up and checks of Entertainment venues to ensure technical entertainment show systems and elements are ready for daily operation.
  • Utilize company resources to stay current on equipment use in entertainment systems to maintain high show quality.
  • Apply basic troubleshooting skills to diagnose system failures.
