About The Position

Universal Orlando Resort is seeking skilled individuals to join their Entertainment Maintenance team. These roles focus on ensuring the seamless operation of entertainment shows and offerings through advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of technical and mechanical entertainment equipment and systems. Responsibilities include diagnostics, repairs, installations, testing, and commissioning of various systems such as audio, lighting, video, special effects, and more. The positions also involve preventative maintenance, data entry, parts research, and adherence to safety protocols. Team members will actively participate in learning opportunities and contribute to maintaining high show quality and operational reliability.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of entertainment systems theory and practical training/experience.
  • 5-8 years’ experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing entertainment equipment (Tech I).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing entertainment equipment (Tech II).
  • 1-3 years’ experience in maintaining and repair of entertainment equipment (Tech III).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in electrical repairs in DC or AC systems, preferred (Tech I).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in electrical repairs in DC or AC systems, preferred (Tech II).
  • 1-3 years basic troubleshooting knowledge of entertainment systems (Tech III).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in design, installation, or maintenance of A/V & entertainment systems (Tech I).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in design, installation, or operation of A/V & entertainment systems (Tech II).
  • Valid Florida driver’s license required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree (AA) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in related field preferred.
  • Computer experience with basic knowledge of MS, MSWord, MS Excel a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge in the set-up and ongoing maintenance of A/V & Entertainment systems.
  • Certificates and factory training desired.
  • Cable terminations and labeling desired.
  • Christie Certification Training.
  • Q-Sys Level 1, Dante Level 1.
  • Q-Sys Level 2, Control Training 201, Control & UCI Fundamentals.
  • Dante Level 2 or 3.
  • SMAART Technologies Software Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, and repairs of technical entertainment equipment and systems.
  • Conduct field repairs, bench repairs, troubleshooting, testing, installing, and commissioning of technical entertainment equipment and systems.
  • Support day-to-day operations with technical and mechanical support.
  • Utilize a systematic approach to researching defective parts/systems using technical manuals, drawings, and external resources.
  • Provide accurate data entry and timely communications on tasks, corrective actions, and repairs made into department tracking systems.
  • Research and specify parts to replace.
  • Complete hard copy maintenance records or physical logbook entries.
  • Perform modifications to equipment and systems as directed.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments or crafts as needed.
  • Communicate resource needs and work plans to supervision.
  • Actively participate in learning opportunities in entertainment technologies for all disciplines.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and preventative maintenance on technical entertainment systems and elements.
  • Respond to calls for service, show down incidents, show element quality repairs, and related issues.
  • Initiate and engage in positive interactions with internal partners.
  • Perform start up and checks of Entertainment venues to ensure technical entertainment show systems and elements are ready for daily operation.
  • Assist in projects and shop work as assigned by supervisor and Lead.
  • Apply basic troubleshooting skills to diagnose system failures and provide corrective actions.
