About The Position

This is an FLSA non-exempt professional position assigned to our I.S. Department. The City will soon begin work on the implementation of a new ERP system for which this position will play a critical role in both the implementation and ongoing support. Under general direction, provides professional support for the City’s technology programs, including creating, optimizing, configuring, and maintaining Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to streamline business processes across departments. Responds to user support issues and bridges the gap between technical teams and end users by analyzing requirements, designing solutions, managing system upgrades, and providing training to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency. Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of ERP platforms such as Central Square or Tyler Technologies.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques used in designing, developing, testing, and implementing software applications.
  • Knowledge of business needs analysis and requirements evaluation to develop technology solutions.
  • Knowledge of workflow analysis and business process improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of technical troubleshooting and problem-solving principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Cognos technical report writing practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of record-keeping and reporting principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques for effectively interacting with vendors, contractors, and City staff.
  • Knowledge of English language structure and content, including grammar, spelling, and composition.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment and communication tools used for business functions and project coordination, including computers and relevant software applications.
  • Ability to provide professional support for ERP and other City technology programs.
  • Ability to participate in the design, development, testing, and implementation of new or upgraded technology systems.
  • Ability to research, evaluate, and diagnose user issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate with end users to enhance applications and automate business processes.
  • Ability to document, review, assess, improve, and implement system processes.
  • Ability to assist in developing and implementing technology policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and deliver end-user training.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Ability to exercise tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within established policies, procedures, and legal guidelines.
  • Ability to effectively use computer systems, relevant software applications, and modern business equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of work.
  • Ability to pass a police background investigation prior to employment and maintain eligibility to access confidential police records systems.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing professional support for information technology systems, finance, budgeting, and payroll systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a valid California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) CJIS Security (Advanced) Certification, to be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment and maintained throughout employment.
