About The Position

Raytheon Digital Technology (DT) seeks an experienced technologist as an Enterprise Architect for the Digital Connected Factory expansion and modernization. This senior architect will drive our transformation to use digital automation and AI to orchestrate factory activities. In addition to defining the digital ecosystem, this role will focus on enabling maximum factory uptime and resilient manufacturing flow. You will work across multiple teams to lead integration of digital systems, roadmap, and solution strategy ensuring alignment to factory modernization and capacity growth plans. You will recommend and define functional strategies and plans that directly impact manufacturing outcomes and influence decisions by digital and factory leadership. You’ll partner with Factory Industry 4.0 and Data architects to establish unified architectures for new and modernized factories that align to our Connected Factory vision and collaborate with a team of architects ensure digital systems, applications, and processes come together to support capacity‑growth and uptime-driven performance objectives. This role reports to the director of Enterprise Architecture Solutions and partners with fellows and solution architects across applications, data, AI, operations, Industry 4.0 and cloud teams to ensure cohesive architecture, standards, and execution across programs and sites.

Requirements

  • Experience with industrial/manufacturing architectures delivering enterprise‑grade factory solutions (MES, SCADA/ICS, IIoT) in production; familiarity with ISA‑95/Purdue concepts, event‑driven architectures, and API ecosystems.
  • Experience leading other architects and setting architectures for multiple teams working together defining, integrating, and deploying complex system-of-system solutions.
  • Experience with Cloud & on‑prem computing: architecture and delivery on AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, integrated with on‑prem networking/compute/storage in hybrid patterns.
  • Experience in Enterprise architecture thought leadership and executive‑level communication skills—able to brief senior leaders, build consensus, and influence technology transformation and adoption across audiences.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years' experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience architecting business critical systems with high-availability and resiliency.
  • Architecture certifications (TOGAF, DoDAF) or applied experience creating architecture models and views (ArchiMate, UML, BPMN, SysML) using enterprise modeling tools (e.g., Cameo/Sparx).
  • Experience with industrial communications and IIoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus) and platforms (Ignition, Kepware, Splunk).
  • Experience with ERP and MRP business planning systems.
  • Expertise with 12‑factor applications, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps; fluency with containers/orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS/Docker) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible).
  • Demonstrated leadership in AI and agentic platforms (e.g., multi‑agent orchestration, LLM/RAG pipelines, knowledge graphs, vector search) applied to operations/manufacturing use cases.
  • Strong background across RDBMS and NoSQL; experience designing data products and knowledge graphs that support AI‑driven orchestration.
  • Proven leadership in multi-year transformations, with experience providing financial estimates, planning, scheduling and evaluating and building technology partner relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Set system‑of‑systems roadmaps: Develop and maintain the system‑of‑systems architecture that supports Digital Factory Orchestration and drives high uptime, predictable flow and real-time operational responsiveness. Ensure capabilities, roadmaps, and interfaces between systems are trusted, aligned, and optimized for production stability and program schedule and outcomes; provide leadership and communicate a unified architecture vision across teams.
  • Work product leadership: Unify and lead work products that deliver the Digital Factory Orchestrator (aligned to RTX's Connected Factory vision), ensuring cohesive integration and iterative delivery with a strong emphasis on minimizing unplanned downtime and reducing production disruptions
  • Align and govern cross‑functional agile teams (applications, data/AI, MES/IIoT, automation/robotics, infrastructure/cloud, security) with consistent architecture patterns and reusable reference implementations that accelerate delivery and reduce risk.
  • Coordinate with architects working end‑to‑end integrations across factory orchestration, SAP ERP & planning, MES/i4.0, enterprise data warehouse/knowledge graph, and material‑movement robotics. Use event‑driven and API‑centric patterns to enable real‑time decision making on the factory floor.
  • Lead discoveries, evaluations, and vendor workshops: Analyze complex, multi‑dimensional problems; assess agentic frameworks, orchestration runtimes, digital thread capabilities, and industrial protocols. Run POCs/pilots to de‑risk scale‑out and codify platform choices with a focus on reliability, resilience and stable factory operations.
  • Communicate with senior executive leadership on matters of strategic importance. Negotiate and influence stakeholders, partners and vendors to adopt architectures, standards, and practices that ensure consistent operational outcomes across sites and programs.
  • Apply Lean principles to identify and eliminate constraints (bottlenecks), reduce waste and improve process stability. deploy digital automation and autonomy where opportunities exist to accelerate flow, quality, throughput and sustain high levels of system availability.
  • Publish formal artifacts to effectively communicate with visual and model-based roadmaps, capability frameworks, logical/physical system and data views, and security models—using TOGAF‑aligned processes and enterprise modeling tools. Promote reuse of patterns and building blocks that strengthen uptime and reduce architectural variability across factories.
  • Embed reliability, security, and compliance: Partner with cloud, networking, and cybersecurity teams to implement observability, zero‑trust principles, and regulated‑industry controls in designs.
