About The Position

Canibuild automates the residential construction industry’s design, approval, and sales processes, allowing clients to answer 'Can I build this on this plot of land?' instantly. As a fast-growing SaaS platform backed by Australia’s largest hedge fund, we serve clients across Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the US. Governments across the US are under mounting pressure to modernise how they permit and approve building — driven by legislated deadlines, funded modernisation mandates, and residents who expect faster, more transparent decisions. Increasingly a jurisdiction has a real problem, a budget to solve it, and no time to spare. Canibuild is the platform that helps them clear the backlog. Canibuild is an AI-powered platform for permitting and AI plan review — serving governments and the building industry, already live in production with public-sector customers across the US, Australia, and New Zealand, including the LA County / Eaton-fire rebuild. The demand is real, funded, and growing. We need someone to go win it. This is a build-the-motion role. You'll be our first dedicated government seller, with a national US territory — the whole map, no fences — owning your number and shaping how we win government from the ground up. You won't be doing it alone. You'll be backed by a full-time Bids & Government Grants Specialist and a Solutions Architect dedicated to the government team — so you can stay on the phones and in the rooms while proposals, grant applications, and technical scoping are handled alongside you. You'll run on a modern stack — HubSpot CRM with AI automation across outreach, research, and pipeline — and be supported by a marketing team with a dedicated government channel feeding campaigns, collateral, and air cover behind your calls.

Requirements

  • Sold software to building & planning departments. Carried a SaaS/software quota selling to building officials, planning officials, and planning/permitting departments, and know how those buyers think, budget, and buy. Adjacent gov tech is not the same thing.
  • Tech-savvy. Run your own demos confidently, learn a product deeply and fast, and use AI tooling daily to out-run bigger teams. If you need a solutions engineer on every call, this isn't your role.
  • A hunter — call first, email second. Not worried about just speaking to people: pick up the phone, reach out cold, and book the demo. Prefer to make ten calls than perfect one email. High activity, pipeline built from nothing.
  • Arrive knowing what to do. No playbook hand-holding, no waiting for instruction— look at the territory, decide the plan, and start executing week one. Strategic on the fly; adjust in the moment and don't over-think. Obsession is pipeline and opportunity identification.
  • Public-sector fluent. Hit a complex, multi-stakeholder government quota and know how public money actually moves — RFPs / RFIs, cooperative contracts, sole-source thresholds, and fiscal-year cycles.
  • Mature in the room, hungry on the field. Credible and composed with commissioners and city managers — and still the person who'll build the tracker themselves, run the outbound, and own the number.
  • Ethically sharp. Understand revolving-door rules and keep any recruited ex-officials to warm intros and credibility — never active involvement in procurements they're conflicted on.
  • Valid US work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • An existing government network (retired building / planning officials, chief building officials).
  • Familiarity with HUD or housing-agency funding.
  • Prior first-sales-hire / 0-to-1 GTM experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the government pipeline: Build it, qualify it, and keep it moving — full-cycle, from first call to signed contract, with a live view of the opportunities and buying signals that matter.
  • Proactive outreach — call first, email second. Pick up the phone, reach out, book the meeting, run the demo. High activity, no hesitation, no waiting for inbound.
  • Get Canibuild onto government budgets. Use the full range of public-sector buying paths — cooperative purchasing vehicles, resellers, grants, and formal solicitations — so we transact quickly and repeatably.
  • Engage the government buyer. Speak credibly with building officials, planning officials, procurement officers, and executive / budget-holders — and represent Canibuild in the rooms and at the conferences where they gather.
  • Respond fast to urgent, funded demand — done right. When jurisdictions face urgent, funded modernisation or rebuild needs, respond fast and lead mission-first: help communities move faster, never treat urgency as opportunism.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary + uncapped commissions
