About The Position

Wiggam Law is a fast-growing law firm that offers a different approach to tax law, balancing high-stakes legal careers with personal life. They are transitioning to a "Pod" leadership structure and seeking an Enrolled Agent (EA) to act as a Force Multiplier. This role is for a senior leader who will own the strategy for a "Pod" of 2-4 professionals, focusing on both client results and team growth. The firm emphasizes a 1,500 annual billable hour requirement to promote work-life balance and offers a leadership track to Principal Director.

Requirements

  • A current Enrolled Agent (EA) certification in good standing.
  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in tax controversy (IRS and/or State levels).
  • Proven experience leading a team, managing direct reports, or overseeing the production of other professionals.
  • Deep knowledge of IRS collections (OICs, IAs, CNC), audits, appeals, and penalty abatement procedures.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax law into an actionable strategy for both clients and junior staff.
  • Experience with legal practice management software (e.g., Clio), Adobe, and the MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead your pod to meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), with a specific focus on realization rates and billable-hour targets.
  • Provide consistent, hands-on coaching to associates; conduct regular file reviews and provide documented feedback to elevate the team’s technical skills.
  • Manage the team’s case capacity, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are allocated efficiently across the pod’s portfolio.
  • Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and performance management of your direct reports.
  • Serve as the lead strategist on a portfolio of complex federal and state tax controversy matters, including high-stakes audits, appeals, collections, and offshore compliance.
  • Review and sign off on major filings, protests, and settlement proposals drafted by your team to ensure technical accuracy and strategic alignment.
  • Lead complex negotiations with the IRS and state revenue agencies for the firm’s most sensitive or high-value cases.
  • Partner with senior leadership to manage procedural strategy and administrative components of Tax Court cases.
  • Serve as the primary client liaison for your pod, building strong relationships, ensuring service expectations are met, and resolving concerns.
