About The Position

Wahconah Regional High School is seeking an English Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction, establishing and adjusting instructional goals, and designing lessons that foster problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills. The role also involves committing to ongoing professional development, addressing individual student differences, developing and evaluating assessments, monitoring student progress, and involving parents and the community in supporting education. The teacher will also perform other duties as assigned and collaborate effectively with department and grade-level teachers.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts certified in English grades 9-12
  • Experience teaching the MA Frameworks
  • Ability to teach a wide range of ELA courses
  • Ability to work positively with Department members to develop and sustain a strong curriculum
  • Familiarity with educational technology and the ability to integrate technology in the classroom

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience at the high school level desired
  • Knowledge of UDL preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction
  • Establishes and (as necessary) adjusts instructional goals and objectives, to reflect district/school goals, curriculum policies, and the knowledge, skills, progress, and needs of one’s students.
  • Designs lessons that provide opportunities for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real world problems.
  • Commits to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy.
  • Plans learning tasks to address individual differences among students.
  • Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments.
  • Monitors and evaluates students’ progress.
  • Encourages, secures and maintains the involvement of parents and other community members in support of teaching and learning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Effectively collaborates with department and grade level teachers.
  • Abides by state statutes, School Committee policies and regulations.
  • Attends meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Serves on committees as assigned.
