About The Position

Seeking a Full-Time Certified English Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, with certification in ELA grades 4-8 or English 6-12. Devereux Georgia provides intensive residential treatment for youth aged 10 to 21 with significant emotional, behavioral, and intellectual/developmental challenges. Our on-campus accredited school, Ackerman Academy, offers an individualized curriculum and a low teacher-to-student ratio to help students achieve academic success. Teachers follow a modified district calendar, working additional days during Fall and Winter Breaks, and 15 days during May/June for Summer Enrichment. Unlike some districts, staff are expected to report to work during inclement weather, prioritizing safety. As a special education teacher at Devereux, you will collaborate with dedicated education professionals, have greater autonomy and flexibility with teaching plans, and benefit from classrooms equipped with Interactive Boards and educational learning supplies. Each classroom is assigned a direct support professional to assist with student well-being and safety. Unique programs beyond academics include art therapy, animal care therapy, yoga, drama, and life-skills. Devereux also offers the ASCEND program, a career accelerator providing career guidance, coaching, skills, and financial assistance, including 100% tuition coverage (up to $15k annually for undergraduate and $25k annually for graduate) and student loan repayment.
