About The Position

This role involves tutoring nonnative English speakers from ESL courses in weekly one-on-one sessions to help them improve their English skills in all areas (speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary). Tutors will also assist students with class assignments, exam preparation, and cultural adjustment to life in the U.S. Responsibilities outside of tutoring include submitting weekly progress reports, meeting with the English Skills Tutor Supervisor, and attending required paid training sessions.

Requirements

• Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
• Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program (or pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester if working in the summer).
• Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
• Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
• A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (first-semester students are exempt until completion of their first semester).
• Federal Work Study students may apply.
• In good disciplinary standing.
• Must be located in the U.S.
• Fluent in English, with strong written and spoken English.
• A grade of B+ or higher in a college-level writing class (including LENG-111: Introduction to College Writing), or a score of 4 or higher on an AP English test.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Ability to stay organized, manage a schedule, and submit reports on time.
